Charlie Guevarra

Title: Service Leader – Concierge, Kowloon Shangri-La

Years in industry: 25 years

Favourite hobby: It was motorcycling, but my wife thought I should stop since we have two kids and I have a lot of responsibilities; so, I stopped. Now my hobby is to continue learning more and more about Hong Kong and share with my colleagues what I have learned; I take a lot of pleasure in that.

Favourite Hong Kong activity: I love local Hong Kong food; there is such a variety. I love to explore new food outlets and new dishes.

My recommendation: Learn about Hong Kong’s history and explore the heart of the city in Tsim Sha Tsui and Central.
1. For first timers, I highly recommend a visit to the Hong Kong Museum of History which houses a wealth of knowledge about the city’s history and culture.
2. Stroll around the harbour front and the newly renovated Avenue of Stars and take the Star Ferry to Central.
3. Take the Peak Tram to the Peak and enjoy the breath-taking views of the Peak; stroll around Hong Kong Island’s shopping centres and take the local tram (Ding Ding) to get around.

Bonus Recommendation: If you want to celebrate a special occasion, try a super-memorable helicopter ride for 15-30 minutes around the city followed by a Chinese fine dining experience at restaurants such as Shang Palace at Kowloon Shangri-La, Tin Lung Heen at The Ritz Carlton, or Yan Toh Heen at the InterContinental Hong Kong.

Extra Tip: If you want a moderately priced but excellent meal try Peking Garden, Lei Garden or Jade Garden.

Last Advice: Check with your concierge for more dining recommendations and hidden treasures of Hong Kong for you to explore.
