Explore North Lantau

Chief Concierge, Sheraton Hong Kong Tung Chung Hotel and Four Points by Sheraton Hong Kong Tung Chung——Jin Yoo.

Years in industry: 18 years

About Me: I was born in Korea but grew up in Hong Kong. You could say that I was “Made in Hong Kong”, so to speak! At university, I studied hospitality management and joined the Hyatt Agency TST as a Front Desk Agent after graduation. Then I joined the Intercontinental Hong Kong later as a Guest Relations Officer and joined the Concierge where I stayed except for a two-year interlude in between until it was closed for renovation this year. Then recently I joined the Sheraton to help open the two hotels – Sheraton and Four Points by Sheraton here in Tung Chung. I am really looking forward to the new challenge.

My Favourite Activity: I love scuba diving; I tried to do that whenever I could, mostly in South East Asia such as Indonesia, Malaysia, plus the Maldives. You can do scuba diving in Hong Kong, off the coast in Sai Kung, but the choices are limited.

What I love about Hong Kong: Hong Kong is so energetic. The city is compact and convenient, and efficient. Whether it’s business or leisure, you can get much more done in a day than most anywhere else.

My Recommendation: Explore North Lantau. There is much to explore on North Lantau. The Citygate Outlet mall is one of the premium outlet malls in Asia and a good place for food and drinks. Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car and the Big Buddha nearby are always high on a visitor's to-do list. If you enjoy cycling, I recommend a hidden gem, a pleasant and scenic ride along the South Perimeter Road. You can start at the roundabout between Chek Lap Kok South Road and Scenic Road. The ride is tranquil and offers fantastic views of the airport and the mountains behind.

Bonus Recommendation: How about enjoying a good seafood meal at a local restaurant here in Tung Chung? You may want to try Tung Shing Lau, which a down-home seafood place off Tung Chung Road North near the Tung Chung Catholic school.

Hong Kong Favourite: When I was young, I always loved visiting the Peak on Hong Kong Island. Then it got to be too crowded because of all the tourists. Now it's a good time to go there again. Views from there remain spectacular and mesmerising .

Last Advice: Always approach the concierge desk for the latest updates on Covid-19 restrictions as well as for the best tips and directions.
