Hong Kong Airlines held an opening ceremony at the Hong Kong International Airport today for its new Airport VIP Lounge. The opening of the lounge affirms the airline’s continual commitment to quality service delivery, ensuring an exquisite flying experience from the air to the ground. The inaugural launch was officiated by Mr. Sun Jianfeng, Vice President of Hong Kong Airlines. Mr. Sun remarked, “We will continue to improve our service quality and achieve sustainability, with balanced development across all other business categories.”
Upgraded VIP Lounge to Fulfil Increasing Demand from Business Travellers
The VIP Lounge features modern, state-of-the-art facilities and idiosyncratic Hong Kong-style interior design with a touch of the local flavour, aimed at appealing to a highly discerning class of global traveller. Situated on the 6th floor (Departure Level) of Terminal 1, adjoining Gate 23, the new lounge is over five hundred square meters. Hong Kong Airlines will open the lounge to its business class passengers, as well as Gold and Silver card members of the Fortune Wings Club flying with the airline. Gold card members may bring one guest with them.
“The VIP Lounge is a fundamental component of our affirmed strategy to expand our business class market share. In fact, Hong Kong Airlines has already implemented a generous multitude of services and products targeting this customer segment, such as the 180-degree flat-bed seats in the business class on A330-300 Airbus, and the “AIRPASS” annual bundle fare package, all of which have been very well received by customers,” said Mr. Sun.
“In 2013, Hong Kong Airlines’ business class sales improved by 50% year-on-year. We anticipate double-digit growth in this business segment, and aim to become one of the fastest-improving airlines in Hong Kong in terms of business class operations.” continued Mr. Sun.
Lounge Design Acknowledges Hong Kong Airlines’ Corporate Objectives
Hong Kong Airlines is proud to have its headquarters and operational base in Hong Kong, with this ethos reflected throughout the lounge from its interior decoration to choice of food and beverages.
Designed by Phill Cheng, a local designer, the VIP Lounge will have different themes of interior decoration every season. The current theme, “Hong Kong Architecture”, is incorporated in elements of the photo wall, displaying Hong Kong's greatest charms in its unending contrast between the old and the new. The current menu boasts much-loved local foods and beverages, such as cart noodles, egg puffs, bean curd jelly, silky milk tea and traditional steamed bowl rice.
Furthermore, Hong Kong Airlines invited fans on its Facebook page to name the VIP Lounge as well as the two private conference rooms with free air ticket as a prize. During the opening ceremony, Hong Kong Airlines announced the winner of the contest and the VIP Lounge is named as “Club Bauhinia”, while two private conference rooms are named as “Victoria Blossom” and “Blakeana Blossom” respectively. The names are thought to best illustrate a sense of the spirit of Hong Kong.
Continued Commitment to Customer-Centric Strategy
Hong Kong Airlines has been rated as a 4-star airline by Skytrax, a highly sought-after honour that reflects their commitment to heartfelt service and customer-centric flight experiences. The new VIP Lounge builds on this honour, bringing guests a relaxing resting area with semi-private resting zone and shower services. In addition, it sought to offer travellers an authentic and memorable “Local” lounge experience, whilst still being in cohesion with practical business requirements, such as two private conference rooms with apron view as well as the entertainment zone and the business centre supported by iMacs and high-tech display monitors. “The New VIP Lounge not only satisfies customers’ basic needs, but makes them feel home and love Hong Kong more,” remarked Mr. Sun.
