The Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens 2019

The 44th edition of the Cathay Pacific/ HSBC Hong Kong Sevens and the granddaddy of the Sevens Series tournaments takes centre stage this month in Hong Kong with cheering fans packing the Hong Kong Stadium and spilling into the streets of Hong Kong for a week of exciting action and non-stop partying.

This year, a whopping 40 teams will compete in three competitions, headlined by the 15 teams going head to head in the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series core competition.Also, Hong Kong is again hosting the 12-team Men’s Qualifier event from which one nation will advance to full-time participation in the 2020 Core Team competition.

And, for the second consecutive year, Hong Kong is hosting the 12- team Women’s Qualifier for next year’s Series.With the stakes high in all three competitions, expect tense action and total effort by the participating teams. And the action spills into the streets over Rugby Week, with several off-site fun-filled activities being held as part of the festivities.

So, if you don’t have a ticket, don’t worry, you can join in any of these activities and catch all the action on live broadcast there. These events include the Hong Kong Sevens Concert with Gwen Stefani, held at the Central Harbourfront event space. The same venue is hosting the Hong Kong Sevens Central with live broadcast, live music and a variety of entertainment. And be sure to check out the giant floating 25-metre rugby ball on display at the Central Harbourfront and take a selfie!
