La Vache!

A favourite eatery in the trendy Soho area in Central is La Vache!, a lively Parisian entrecote steakhouse serving a simple but quality steak frites menu that will draw you back time and time again. La Vache! also operates a branch in Tsim Sha Tsui.

La Vache! is French for “Holy Cow!”, in tribute to the main food served here. The bistro-style restaurant is decked out in worn red-leather banquettes, oak wall panelling and brass fixtures that evoke the feel of a classic Paris bistro. A welcoming bar invites guests to enjoy a cocktail or two before the meal.

The menu consists of a simple three-course meal priced at a reasonable $318 per person: an organic mixed green salad with zesty mustard vinaigrette together served with house-baked baguette; a juicy trimmed USDA prime ribeye steak together with all the French fries you can eat, and a dessert cart bearing traditional French pastries such as Paris-Brest, a choux pastry ring filled with hazelnut cream and Mille Feuille, layers of puff pastry and cream, among others. Steaks are served with a special béarnaise sauce and unlimited skinny fries.

Naturally, La Vache! has a decent collection of Old World wines, including its own private La Vache! blend of Cinsault, Syrah, Mourvèdre and Cabernet Sauvignon, especially suited to pairing with steak.

There is something to be said for a hassle-free meal in which you don’t have to stress over what to order, and can just focus on enjoying good steak, agreeable wines, crispy fries and the company you are with. La Vache! is that perfect venue for a happy and filling meal. Another branch has been opened in Tsim Sha Tsui. Give it a try!
