Pazzi Isshokenmei

For any ardent foodies, the great thing about living in Hong Kong is the abundant opportunities availabe to try out new restaurants offering innovative cuisines ranging from the eclectic to the eccentric. The newly opened Pazzi Isshokenmei, which serves traditional Italian cuisines blended with Japanese Izakaya style, fits the bill to a tee.

Pazzi Isshokenmei is the creation of local restaurateur Phillip Chow, a seasoned F&B operator with over 20 years of experience. In his latest venture, Chow creates a dining concept of bridging the expressive West with that of the traditional, disciplined East, as expressed in its name, décor, and of course its inventive dishes, using largely fresh seasonal ingredients imported from Japan and Italy.

Occupying the second floor of the prominent H Queen, Pazzi Isshokenmei is bright and airy, the restaurant’s high ceiling complements well its stylish décor.
For our lunch, we chose items from the Lunch Special, a 3-course selection comprising a starter, main course, and dessert. The starters we chose included Salmon Tataki, (daiken, coriander, chili); Lobster Miso Soup (daiken, tofu, miso) for additional $98, and Beef Tartare (pickle, egg emulsion) for additional $98 - we quite like the way the beef is seasoned.

For the main course, the choices available are suitably distinctive. Alioli Soba (garlic, chili, shichimi) ($268) which pairs Japanese soba noodles with Italian based spices and garnishing, is an Italian inspiration that can give a run for money with any quality pasta dishes. Miso Crab Tagliolini (crab meat & paste, miso) ($398) is another delicious concoction, mixing fresh Tagliolini pasta with Japanese crab meat and miso. Our last main is the Rib Eye (morels, potato) ($488), a tender steak nicely grilled.
Green Tea Tiramisu Cremia ($68 extra), a green tea flavour fusion delight, rounded out our meal nicely.

Pazzi Isshokenmei offers a quality collection of wines, including our selection, the 2017 Domaine Geantet- Pansiot Gervey-Chambertin a balanced,  fruity pinot noir from Burgundy.

We are hugely enamoured with Pazzi Isshokenmei. The restaurant offers an excellent package of innovative and inventive gourmet cuisine, upscale décor, and relaxed ambience. It’s a good place to go with your loved ones or for a nice social gathering. We highly recommend it.
