'Tis the season for Claypot Rice

A nice warm Claypot Rice always tops our lists when the winter chill hits the city.  Our tummies can no longer resist a pot of warm, chewy and crispy rice and its crust, needless to mention about assorted yummy toppings. In view of this need, we have selected three places for a nice comforting gobble.

Wing Hap Sing Restaurant

G/F, 113-115 Jervois Street, Sheung Wan

Mon - Sat: 06:30-16:00

Average: HK$60

Claypot Rice was added to Wing Hop Sing’s Cha Chaan Teng menu at a later time and became an instant hit.  It is a family-run restaurant visited by many celebrities and local Hong Kong people.  The place is packed till closing but that didn’t affect the efficiency and quality of their signature item: the claypots are heated in the oven for 10 minutes before serving.

Four Seasons Claypot Rice

46-58 Arthur Street, Yau Ma Tei

Mon-Sun: 4:10pm-12:30am

Average: HK$40

Four Seasons is one of the most prestigious claypot rice must-go spot.  To increase the efficiency, customers are required to choose their toppings on the queue so that the warm pots can arrive right when they are seated. Both pots display a perfect representation of yummy, chewy and crusty: the juice and soy sauce made a perfect combination for lifting the dishes to the next level.

Lane Noodles

1/F, Wah Kwong Regent Centre, 88 Queen's Road Central, Central

Mon-Sun: 7:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m.

Average: HK$50

The claypot dining experience at Lane Noodles appears more sleek and organized than the above mentioned restaurants. Local dishes are also offered in the menu providing more choices to the customers.  Their soy sauce is the highlight of making a delicious claypot rice: a four-month fermentation producing quality soy beans delivering a special strong aroma to the dishes.
