Wine HK is back for the Second Year

Back by popular demand, Wine HK will be returning for the second year running. This year, visitors can sip some 800 wines against the backdrop of Hong Kong’s iconic skyline along with 12,000 expected wine enthusiasts at the Central Harbourfront from 6-7 December 2014.

Visitors can enjoy wine tastings from wine houses all over the world. Renowned estates such as Alvaro Palacios, Billecart-Salmon, Baron Edmond De Rothschild, Robert Mondavi, and many more, will be showcased. Experienced sommeliers are on hand to assist in telling the difference between a Bordeaux and a Burgundy, and more importantly, find your favorite bottle.  The 20% + off retail price for all wines is a great steal and all purchases will be delivered within 10 working days.

Information wine sessions will be held for people wanting to develop their palate and learn more about wine in general. Everyone from the amateur to the aficionado will have something to take away from it.

With so many different wines to choose from, making a selection is bound to be a tough choice. Helping with this is the Riedel People’s Choice Awards. Guests on Friday night will vote for their favourite wines across 5 categories. The results will be displayed over the weekend. Weekend visitors will be able to identify the most popular wines by the medals placed next to them at the wine booths.

Spicing up the event is the ‘Wine HK Tasting Championship’ sponsored by Wine Shop Asia.  ‘Wine HK Tasting Championship’ is a fun competition that enables competitors the opportunity to blind taste and discover just how good their palate is.  Entrants will participate in a variety of lively challenges, tasting wines from all over the world, from the simplest to the most obscure.  This knock out wine tasting for 60 people will be held on Friday 5 December at Wine HK and will see 10 lucky people move through to the final tasting challenge on Sunday 7 December.  The winner will walk away with their own body weight in wine and a trip of a lifetime to Bordeaux.  The Bordeaux trip for 2 includes a 2 night stay at Chateau Du Tetre for 2 nights and tastings at; Chateau Giscours, Chateau Du Tetre, Chateau Palmer, Chateau Lynch Bages and Pichon Lalande.  This is a trip that money cannot buy as tastings at these incredible Chateau are by invitation only.
