The opening of Hotel sáv earlier this year heralds an original approach to hospitality service at an unconventional location. Conveniently accessible
via Hung Hom MTR Station and Hung Hom Ferry Pier, Hotel sáv offers comfortable, personalised service with a colourful, modern splash. Dining options are on the first floor. Instead of the popular Palette – known for its all-day international buffet – we indulged in a different kind of culinary experience at Amplitude, an upscale lounge overlooking the vibrant district nearby.
The décor on the dining level takes its cue from the colour wraps of the entire hotel design – our mood was instantly calmed by the azure lighting at the bar area. We sampled a series of delicacies beginning with a cool and refreshing Raw Bar Temptations ($399 for two persons). The set includes six seasonally picked oysters, eight pieces of sashimi, along with two signature sáv Colour cocktails. We chose Green and Purple out of the seven Colour cocktail options: Green is a refreshing mix of Kiwi with rum and mint, Purple offers delightfully sweet flavours of blueberries mixed with gin. Next comes their newly presented Summer Blossom Tea Set ($328 for two persons). Neatly on-theme, all delicacies were beautifully served in a ready-for-picnic setting.
Among the savouries of this set were barbecued lberico pork loin sandwiches, smoked salmon on cucumber, goose liver mousse on brioche and Angus beef mini burgers. The set also comes with several sweet delights such as Daifuku Mochi, cheesecakes, mini strawberry babas and chocolate sticks.
Amplitude also offers an à la carte menu that ranges from western burger delights and salads to Asian cuisine. The homemade pasta selection is highly recommended – try the Assorted Seafood Spaghetti ($218). If you feel like going for a fuller meal, Palette is just opposite, with their signature homemade and international dinner buffet. Seafood lovers should not miss the seasonal oysters, Matsuba crab legs, Canadian crystal whelks, Western Pacific prawns, and the newly added Boston lobsters. All in all, if you are looking for a relaxing break from bustling Tsim Sha Tsui, nearby Hotel sáv offers plenty of reassuring and delectable dishes.
