Lee Gardens x First Initiative Foundation (FIF) Present FURRYTALES: A Charitable Art Experience with Your Furry Family

[Hong Kong; 24 November 2021] This Christmas, Hysan Development’s Lee Gardens and First Initiative Foundation (FIF) join forces to present “FURRYTALES” – a unique charitable initiative running from 28 November 2021 to 9 January 2022 at Lee Garden One & Two. In line with both organisations’ long￾standing commitment to proactively support community causes and promote arts and culture, we are excited to present an exciting interactive experience that not only makes great art accessible to the Hong Kong public, but also serves as a platform to raise awareness for the welfare of an important group of our community – our beloved furry friends.

First-ever pet themed Christmas Celebration

As a company, Hysan focuses on the creation of a sustainable community with lifestyle and wellness playing major parts, and recognises pets as an integral part of the family in many Hong Kong households. Lee Gardens has, therefore, taken the lead to work with FIF and pet community leaders to kickstart conversations about how to work towards building a more inclusive and caring Hong Kong. FURRYTALES is a celebration of the harmony between humans and animals. This initiative provides a platform for pet charities to interact with the public – building awareness for pet welfare. For this 2021 festive season, there will be pet-friendly activities in events in three areas of Lee Gardens.

Uplifting art and artists in Hong Kong

For FURRYTALES, FIF has collaborated with Wild Child Creatives (WCC), to create a one-of-a-kind pet-friendly art experience for the Hong Kong public to enjoy during this festive season with full support from Tang Contemporary Art. FURRYTALES will feature site-specific art installations mainly featuring 2 international artists represented by Tang Contemporary Art: Beijing-based Zhu Jinshi, an internationally renowned artist who brought the exceptional Christmas tree to the heart of Causeway Bay; Kitti Narod, a Thailand-based emerging artist whose works depict a contemporary art form that centres around relationships and community. Additionally, local female artist Wu Jiaru is an upcoming name who has created the market stalls using her pleasing aesthetics and

artworks.

This initiative mainly covers three areas, which are the Magical Garden (@Hysan Avenue, Lee Garden One), Cosy Christmas (@Basement, Lee Garden One), and Rooftop Spa (@3rd floor, Lee Garden Two).

Magical Garden – Art Installation, Pet-friendly Interactive Space and Weekend Market

Located at a prime location, Magical Garden is in the main facade of Lee Garden One, facing Hysan Avenue in the heart of Causeway Bay. The Magical Garden’s key feature is a 6m tall, towering Christmas tree, featuring the Internationally renowned artist, Zhu Jinshi.

Surrounding this Christmas tree will be an interactive space that provides a platform to raise awareness about pet welfare. The works of the Thailand-based artist Kitti Narod will also be featured to create a vibrant atmosphere. FIF has also assembled a weekend market around the theme of art and pets by collaborating with the most unique local brands, businesses and experiences that are sure to bring the community together for a good cause. What’s more, beautiful artworksfrom the local female artist Wu Jiaru will bedeck the Market Stallsin the Magical Garden.

Cosy Christmas – First-ever Pet Family Portrait Lounge Safely nestled in the Lee Garden One Basement, this space is an intimate lounge set up in a mall that actively welcomes pets for family portraits (registration in advance is required). The lounge is a well-furnished living room designed by a local interior design boutique called Peter Silling Associates.

The idea is to have a green screen that can be customised to look like a Christmas card, post card, e-card or even a virtual vacation background. Families can celebrate Christmas by picking a destination or card of their choice and send the greetings across to their loved ones to spread joy and create memories.

Rooftop Spa – Interactive Outdoor Event Space This is not just another rooftop, but an interactive outdoor space, where a series of exciting activities will be planned with the ultimate goal to bring people together. Located at 3/F, Lee Garden Two, the Rooftop Spa reinforces the idea of FURRYTALES, “Art is everywhere and it is for everyone.” This is where pet owners and their furry friends can soak in the sun or enjoy a special movie night under the stars, among other activities including live events and innovative workshops. A loveable pet adoption corner is one of the key features of the Rooftop Spa, specially designed for all those who are looking to build their very own furry family. There is something for everyone — those who love pets and others who want to explore their artistic side. The space also features Coltex, the local boutique fabrics company that has supported the event by thoughtfully creating tailor-made, pet-friendly outdoor furniture and upholstery.

Education Outreach – Making Art Accessible

FIF has created an educational booklet along with creative agency Being Media Limited for all those who want to understand how to appreciate art. The booklet is a tool that brings people closer to the various aspects of art, from being introduced to international artists to understanding the elements that come together to create the artwork. Themed around pet welfare, it ensures that visitors are educated about pets and are empathetic towards them. Through this booklet, FIF strives to understand the unspoken words of these animals through the lens of art and culture.
