Chopin Society’s 9th annual Joy of Music Festival brings the best in classical music to Hong Kong
The best in classical music returns to Hong Kong this fall with the 9th annual Joy of Music Festival taking place on 12th - 18th October 2015. Organised by The Chopin Society of Hong Kong and held at Hong Kong City Hall Concert Hall, the week-long musical event will showcase a series of hand-picked local and international musicians, bringing only the most talented classical artists together for a series of mesmerising performances.
This year, the Festival will feature recitals by the first prize winners of the Hong Kong International Piano Competition, Jinsang Lee, Ilya Rashkovskiy and Giuseppe Andaloro. The world-class line-up also includes enchanting guitar concertos and chamber group performances, as well as a concert by highly acclaimed young pianist Federico Colli, who has won a number of prestigious competitions around the world, including the first prize of the 2012 Leeds Competition. In support of emerging talent, the event will also feature a series of young performers taking the stage as a prelude to each concert. Eleanor Wong, one of Hong Kong’s foremost piano teachers from the Academy of Performing Arts, will work closely with the Festival to select outstanding pupils to take part in the initiative, to showcase Hong Kong’s young home-grown musical talent.
Set up by Dr. Andrew Freris and Dr. Anabella Levin-Freris, the Chopin Society of Hong Kong was first registered under the Societies Ordinance in 1995 and has now been incorporated since 2006 as a non-profit company. Dedicated to the promotion of classical musical activities, including the organisation of public recitals and concerts, master classes and a major international piano competition, the musical organisation has helped contribute further to the reputation of Hong Kong as a major cultural centre in Asia.
