Opera Hong Kong Children Chorus (OHKCC) will perform its Annual Concert on 14 November 2015 (Saturday), 7:30pm and 15 November 2015 (Sunday), 3:00pm at Theatre, Sai Wan Ho Civic Centre, featuring popular tunes and the opera Hansel and Gretel.
Humperdinck’s popular adventurous story tells about the brother and sister Hansel and Gretel. Lost in the wood, they save their own lives and other victimized children cleverly from the hands of an evil witch. The production features fascinating elements such as a gingerbread and confectionery house with window panes of clear sugar, fairies and gingerbread characters.
For the first time, OHKCC includes an opera performance in its annual concert. Nearly sixty Senior Class students of OHKCC received extra training on singing and drama since January 2015 to stage the fairy-tale opera. Despite much more to be learned and practiced, the members are excited and find much fun to take on their roles and experience the whole opera production process from acting, dancing to singing in a professional set. It offers a wonderful opportunity to enrich the youngsters’ artistic experience which is both inspiring and rewarding.
The other half of the concert features popular tunes including I am a small part of the world, Top of the World and O Clap Yo’ Hands which will be delivered in turn by ensembles from each of the learning centres.
Tickets are available now at URBTIX outlets, on the Internet and by credit card telephone booking at $300 and $200 (half-price tickets available for full-time students).
