Solely sponsored by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust

The exhibition "The Hong Kong Jockey Club Series: A History of the World in 100 Objects from the British Museum" features 100 selected items from the British Museum collection, showcasing the essence of global culture spanning more than 2 million years. In tandem with the exhibition, Hong Kong Heritage Museum is launching a series of education programmes, including talks, guided tours of the exhibition, activities for students and children, workshops for young and elderly people, social harmony events, and cross-generation programmes, to arouse the interest of visitors in world history, culture and art. Echoing the British Museum's exhibition and adding local features to this exhibition, we have specially arranged a display in the Education Gallery with the theme of 100 historical items about Hong Kong, and have organised a variety of educational activities to suit people of all ages and backgrounds.

"Discovering Treasures from the British Museum" Lecture
Viewing World History through the Collection in the Exhibition "A History of the World in 100 Objects from the British Museum"

The British Museum has selected 100 exhibits from its vast collections and displayed them in chronological order, allowing visitors to explore the life and experiences of the people in the past. These representative exhibits are from different eras and regions: from rare survival tools that our early human ancestors relied on to credit cards that are commonly owned by modern people nowadays. The exhibits are concentrated pieces of world history, recording the power of observation and creativity of human beings at different periods of human history.

In this lecture, the speaker from the British Museum will share with the audience the curatorial concept of the special exhibition "The Hong Kong Jockey Club Series: A History of the World in 100 Objects from the British Museum". Through the stories behind different exhibits, the speaker will explore the footprints of human development over the past two million years and discuss with the audience how the development of civilizations has changed the world.
